Kalpataru Power Transmission bags $250-mn Kuwaiti order

Mumbai: Kalpataru Power Transmission on Thursday said it has secured an order worth USD 250 million from Kuwait's Ministry of Energy and Water for works relating to a 400-KV power transmission line.
The order relates to a 172-kilometre, 400 KV double circuit overhead transmission line, which has to be completed in 24 months, Kalpataru said a release.
The order involves procurement of materials like conductors and insulators, which are required for completing the turnkey project, besides 25,000 MT of galvanised steel towers from the company's facility in Gandhinagar, it said.
The scope of work on the project involves EPC, including survey, design and testing, manufacturing of towers, survey of lines, erection, stringing, testing and commissioning.
Kalpataru Power bagged the project after an elaborate qualification and short-listing process by the client and against intense competition from leading Indian, Saudi Arabian and South Korean firms.
"This project will help us in taking the organisation to a different level on the international operations front," Kalpataru Group Chairman Mofatraj P Munot said.
With this order in kitty, the company's current order-book stands at around Rs 4,700 crore, of which 42 per cent is from
Overseas projects, the release said.
